Organic Lawn Recipe
MAINTAINING AN OLD LAWN: in late March to early/mid April
INSTALLING A NEW LAWN:
- Mow & rake the lawn removing as much dead grass and thatch as possible
- Spike with a spading fork
- Over-seed with grass seed Apply a balanced Organic Lawn Fertilizer @ 18lbs per 2,000sq ft. when overseeding (use low to middle settings on spreader)
- Apply Soil Activator at a rate of 18lbs per 2000 sq. ft.
- Apply Garden Pearls Calcium at a rate of 18lbs per 2000sq. ft
- Top-dress: Apply a ½” layer of Gardner & Bloome Soil Building Compost over the area and work it into the grass with a bamboo or other flexible lawn rake.
- Always water the lawn for at least 30 minutes after fertilizing or top-dress application and keep the lawn moist until seed germination is complete an new grass has grown to about 2 inches.
INSTALLING A NEW LAWN:
- Spread Gardner & Bloome Soil Building Compost 2-3 inches thick over lawn planting area.
- Work & mix completely with soil to dept of 6 inches
- Apply Organic Lawn Fertilizer at rate 18lbs per 2000 sq. ft.
- Apply Soil Activator at a rate of 18lbs per 2000 sq. ft.
- Sow lawn seed evenly over the area. (See seed application rate on package)
- Rake lightly
- Roll with a garden roller to compact the soil
- Cover seed with and additional ¼” of Soil Building Compost
- Water gently, but thoroughly
- Do not let the germinating seed dry out
